Results

It’s still early days for this project but we have already seen the following results

  • Increase in signups due to slick new user journey establishing trust
  • A new, strong brand and professional, highly-functioning website has gained the interest of the Open University and Bristol University to be the key sponsors of the Open Wilding Project.

Brief

Playing a crucial role in the preservation of wildlife and the future of conservation, the Open Wilding Project approached Trusted Media because the basic website they were using was limiting the visibility of the Open Wilding Project, and ultimately – their funding.

The project and its important cause soon grabbed our attention, and we knew that we could put our e-commerce design, development and marketing skills experience to use, improving the representation of the brand and improve the performance of the website.

The Problem

The Open Wilding Project was operating with a Wix website that offered limited functionality and a poor user experience. The limitations of the website meant that improving online visibility and attracting users was challenging, not offering the project much when it came to harnessing everything that an online presence has to offer. The project relies on support through donations, this required a highly-functional, easy-to-use e-commerce website. This also meant that the design and branding of the website had to be one that represented the project and ultimately, increasing the online sales (through donations) it received.

  • Site Speed – Slow site speed can be a cause of frustration for users, causing doubt and mistrust to set in, and as a result, they leave the website.
  • Poor CMS – Poor CMS can have huge implications for e-commerce websites in particular. The platforms must be search engine friendly, allowing you to easily create content that will support the websites SEO and support branding – a website with poor CMS will hinder these elements and efforts.
  • Poor User Journey – The user journey was confusing and proved to be yet another element that caused mistrust and doubt, preventing them from making the donations that the project needs to carry out the great work they do.
  • Limited Design – the design of the Wix website did not reflect the truly innovative nature of the project and was also playing a role in the e-commerce performance of the website.

Solution

Putting experience into practice

It was clear that the limitations of Wix website were never going to allow the Open Wilding Project to reach their true potential and meet their objectives. The new website needed to clearly define the brand, and the mission as well as appear trustworthy and credible, and let’s not forget, it needed to offer users a quick and easy way to make donations.

When it comes to increasing online sales, it really pays (pun intended) to provide the path of least resistance, removing all barriers to converting.

A brand-new, bespoke e-commerce website

As well as undertaking the complete redesign and redevelopment of a new e-commerce website, we created bespoke support/donation forms that were aligned with the needs of the business and audience. This new website benefitted from new stable and reliable hosting and was fully optimised for organic search, meaning that the Open Wilding Project would benefit from increased visibility in the search engine results pages and increase the volume of organic traffic to the new website.

To support the new professional branding of the website, Trusted Media also created a business email solution, making the team at the Open Wilding Project more accessible to their audience, should they ever want to reach out. You might be sick of hearing this now – but yes, this really does further improve brand trust and credibility.
